BLITHERING IDIOTS

Simon Wiesenthal was laid to rest in a Herzliya, Israel today.

Ambassadors and senior officials from all over the world came to pay respect to the Nazi hunter.

However, not one single Israeli government minister came to the funeral.


Deputy minister Michael Melchior was the only government representative who bothered to attend.


"Senior people from countries overseas came to the funeral, but it seems that for government ministers, the cemetery in Herziliya is too far," said an organizer.

A survivor of the Nazi death camps, Wiesenthal dedicated his life to fighting the Nazis. He died in his home in Austria (because you don't hunt for polar bear in florida) . Wiesenthal, along with others , founded the Jewish Historical Documentation Center in Linz, Austria.In 1953, Wiesenthal passed information to the Israelis that Adolf Eichmann was in Argentina. In 1977, he founded the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Vienna, the main branch of the Center is now in Los Angeles; bringing over a thousand Nazi criminals to trial. We are told to do the work of the Lord, Simon Wiesenthal did the work of the Lord,because the Lord wasn't. Simon Wiesenthal did not go straight to heaven , no he made a B-line to hell (he had some old scores to settle).

I decided to write a few essays covering the topic of our relationship with HaShem.I assume many of you will ignore them ,some of you will enjoy and that most of you could be offended.But know this I love G-d, perhaps not as you do; to me He is part of my family and as such subject to things "family".

Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev(1740-1810) a beloved figure in Jewish history. Born into a prominent rabbinical family, studied with the "Pri Megadim," himself a great scholar and rabbi of a number of communities.After meeting Rabbis Shmelke Nikolsburg and Dov Baer of Mezhirech, he joined Chassidis and became a influential leader. He is famous for defending the Jews and interpreting our actions in the best light.

My favorite is the tale where RLY can not decide if he should blow shofar one Rush Hashanah (after a horrific year for the Jews of Russia).He argues with the shofar in front of the congregation back and forth. Finally he throws the horn down in disappointment (?) and says "G-d if you love Czar Alexander so much let him blow Your shofar".

A Taiwanese publisher has withdrawn a map of Taipei showing a rock singer wearing a T-shirt with three words in gothic letters refering to promiscuity.
"The person responsible for issuing the map didn't understand English, but when we saw the picture, we thought it better to withdraw it from circulation," said a company spokeswoman.
The map is still available at some hotels in Taipei, though. "We have no right to interfere with the hotels, they make their own decision about the map," she said.

After swiping the Florida Keys, Rita moved into the Gulf of Mexico and strengthened to a category 4 storm, packing 150 mph winds, according to the National Hurricane Center. Rita could intensify into a category 5 hurricane, the NHC warned. Generating winds of over 155 mph and 18 foot storm surges and it can rip roofs off most buildings. Only three hurricanes this powerful have ever hit the U.S.

The storm is forecast to hit Texas early on Saturday.

After relief groups have successfully ended negotiations with the U.S. about assistance for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, Palestinian spokesperson for the Red Crescent Society, Farouk El-Farouk has confirmed their nation's participation in the relief effort. It was confirmed that at 9:15am this morning, 4 plane loads of volunteers from Gaza and the West Bank left Amman, bound for New Orleans to assist with the looting.
