HMMMMMM??????????

.

.
.

After swiping the Florida Keys, Rita moved into the Gulf of Mexico and strengthened to a category 4 storm, packing 150 mph winds, according to the National Hurricane Center. Rita could intensify into a category 5 hurricane, the NHC warned. Generating winds of over 155 mph and 18 foot storm surges and it can rip roofs off most buildings. Only three hurricanes this powerful have ever hit the U.S.

The storm is forecast to hit Texas early on Saturday.

What do you think President Bush's recovery plan for the Hurricane in Texas is?

Stop with the Bush bashing. For the last time that PUTZ of a mayor and SKANK of a governor were majorly at fault and no one seems to care. And besides, Bush is the only one who actually apologized for this natural disaster.

Unprejudiced people - and those of us who read the paper know - that FEMA caused a great deal of danger.

I happen to agree full heartedly with chortkover. As I am sure you all know sadigorua and chortkov are related chassidus. But I should say that God works in mysterious ways- he put Bush in a crazy predicament. No matter how Bush handles the Texas thing he will piss people off. If he responds swiftly the NIGGERS (happy DovBear?)and the left-nut-sucking liberals will call the race-card and say he only cares about his own state, if he doesn't respond quickly he will take it up the ass like a jail-house-school-girl from the burly butches on the left. Sorry about my terminology, I got 4 hours of sleep last night.

If anybody believes that in this day and age a Presidential administration willingly ignored a city's population simply because they're black, then he needs to see a doctor.

    AMSHI,

    Great post.

The President of the United States is so removed in a government capacity that blaming Bush is futile. There are so many levels between himself and the individual responsible for the levee, the evacuation and so forth.

The only legitimate complaint one could have against the President, as far as the initial stage of the hurricane goes, was the administration he was responsible for choosing and maintaining. (His response was a publicity failure).

Had New Orleans been a white neighborhood there is no question that the federal government would have exerted the same amount of energies. To say otherwise would be accusing the president of indirect genocide against black people, which you may want to reconsider.

The Giants need to make the playoffs this year. What a way to get rid of the competition. Saints, Cowboys, Watchout Redskins you next.

If you think Bush has no responsibility for the Federal response to Katrina, check again. It was he who put the wrangler of horse show judges in the position. He should then take some responsibility for the failure of the wrangler. Look at the difference in the response to the situation in Texas, a competent person in that position and everythings seems to be running smoother. Lets wait until afterward to see the end results.

Of course some of the smoothness is just learning from the errors made on Katrina.

All you do-gooders who seem to care about our colored brothers and sisters take heed, they don't like you, and they resent the fact that some squeaky clean skinny white honky kid comes and tells the Poh black folk that they done come to take care of them because L-rd knows they're totally incapable of doing anything by themselves.

    And to DB,

Calling the mayor a PUTZ for what he di not due is not racial. But thats what you "left-nut-sucking liberals" like to do, twist the words to make yourself sound/feel better. You are the one that called him a "nigger" not I. and did you miss the part where I called the gov. a "SKANK", probably, because that wouldnt fall into youre every republican or liberitarian is a racist ideal.

    Dear R Chortkover et al,
It is true that the ma-tsav in New Orleans was made worse be the inadequate response of the local officials there, which many have compared unfavorably to Mayor Giuliani's performance on 9/11/01. However, the Federal govt's response was every bit as incompetent and maybe more so: The NO-mayor and La-governor are just plain old politicians, while the Feds have two agencies (FEMA and Homeland Security) whose very reason for being is to respond aggressively to crises of this sort. If, with 4 years of preparation since 9/11/01 and with 3 days advance notice that the hurricane was bearing down on NO, this was the best the feds could do, how much good will they be when the surprise terrorist attack arrives? Please do not suggest that the feds have been prepping for Osama, not Katrina. The required response is virtually identical: evacuate the city, get the sick and wounded to medical attention in a safe place, deliver clean food and water and supplies to all concerned. They failed, plain and simple. Maybe the local authorities failed too, but we're not grading on a curve here; there's room for everyone to fail. And while the failure of local politicians was tragic for NO, the failure of the Feds is potentially catastrophic for the entire US.

    Uncle moish

I am in no way endorsing W. However, the point is - Is How culpable is Bush for the disaster.

Chortkover is right; the most responsible are those closest to the problemn administratively speaking. Bush is only responsible for the people he put in charge - he fired FEMA Brown and for his public reaction - which he messed up.

  • At 9/22/2005 2:56 PM, Blogger DovBear said…

How culpable is Bush? He's the one who put incompetant cronies in charge of FEMA, right?

  • At 9/23/2005 5:36 AM, Blogger Shragie said…

W is culpable, only to the extent as he being tyhe one who put Brown in FEMA. Had this been the 2nd disaster unsder Brown W would be culpable but he fired him before he had a chance. He fulfilled his executive duties. He is culpable but not nearly to the extent of the offices that are closest to NO.

  • At 9/23/2005 11:56 AM, Blogger DovBear said…

You have no idea how the world works do you Shragie? Tell me, how long have you and Heshy been learning together?

  • At 9/23/2005 12:28 PM, Blogger Shragie said…

Speculating as to what happened behind close doors without any proof is irrational. The prudent path would be the one with the least guesswork and the one that fits the facts the best. Any conspiracy theory armed only with “the way the world works” is adolescent. Could of it happened as you suggest – certainly. Did it happen – there is no proof.

Instead of channeling your energies towards hostility, stereotyping and swipes and all try channeling them towards logic and debate. Otherwise you have no chance of convincing anybody of anything for you bring nothing to the table.

    Shragie says:
W is culpable, only to the extent as he being the one who put Brown in FEMA.

That's not just a little. Brown wasn't simply incompetent, he was unqualified to begin with. Not only did he have no relevant experience, it seems he was inept at whatever he did previously.

    Uncle Moish

You bring up a good point even so much that I may stand corrected. However, let's not lose sight of the original point of if NOLA were to be a white city would W have reacted differently and that the mayor and governer are well before W on the firing line.

Shalom BTW whens the next concert?

  • At 9/25/2005 10:13 AM, Anonymous chortkover said…

    UM,

the same could be said for the NO mayor. He had no experiance either and didnt belong in that position. The corruptness of NO put him there.

  • At 9/26/2005 6:43 AM, Blogger Shragie said…

    Chortkover,

I missed your point. Can you please clarify?

  • At 9/29/2005 6:29 AM, Anonymous chortkover said…

    sHRAGI,
My point is that with NATURAL disasters city and state comes first they have to be able to handle the situation untill federal gets there. Giulliani took control FIRST and that was a terroristic disaster> He didnt sit on his ass and say "federal govt. please help me what do I do".

Bottom line is I blame the mayor and governor first. W. being the Pres. deserves to take some heat and he did, AND he apologized for it and started to see how he can improve.

I am tired of this subject now. I feel like a car stuck on ice. I am out.
