The Calm (Slumber) After The Storm

.

My apologies for having the penchant for bearing bad news. But, I can’t resist. As you may have all heard as I have and cannot get enough of, Hurricane Wilma has already ravaged many Succos vacationers Yom Tov. I am devastated and therefore feel that we declare a Yom Tefilah with inspirational speakers. I brought the issue up with some of our leaders who feel that Yom Tov is not an appropriate time. However, I should be consoled that this years Thanksgiving shingding will bezras Hashem be grander as ever. Chasdei hashem

More insignificantly,

The murders of Matat Adler, Kineret Mandel, 23 and Oz Ben-Meir, have still gone virtually unnoticed. Their blood is still screaming for us to at least use their murders to deter any future tragedies.

How can we expect the gentiles of the world including the media to get involved with their causes if we ourselves remain silent?

How can we honestly ask the master of the world to protect Israel, Jews around the world, even our own families if we don't give a hoot?

A little more,

The expellees of Gush Katif still don’t adequate housing and their community is facing extinction. We all kvetched about our impotency during the expulsion – Let’s put the guilt to work.

One last bit of torture:

An official Vatican newspaper has reported that during his upcoming visit to the Vatican, President Moshe Katsav will sign an agreement giving parts of David's Tomb over to papal control. Why not just put a tzeilem on the Israeli flag and get it over with?

As we plead to our father in heaven to send rain (in the right places and amounts) let us implore that he rain some compassion on all of our brothers and sisters and send us and our leaders a good strong cold shower to wake us up from our deep slumber.
