Yo' Abe Whats Up With That?

THERE IS THIS PAST WEEK'S PARSHA:

Abraham Intercedes for Sodom
genesis 18:22-32
22So the men turned from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the LORD. 23Then Abraham drew near and said, "Will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked? 24Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city. Will you then sweep away the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous who are in it? 25Far be it from you to do such a thing, to put the righteous to death with the wicked, so that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from you! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?" 26And the LORD said, "If I find at Sodom fifty righteous in the city, I will spare the whole place for their sake."

27Abraham answered and said, "Behold, I have undertaken to speak to the Lord, I who am but dust and ashes. 28Suppose five of the fifty righteous are lacking. Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five?" And he said, "I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there." 29Again he spoke to him and said, "Suppose forty are found there." He answered, "For the sake of forty I will not do it." 30Then he said, "Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak. Suppose thirty are found there." He answered, "I will not do it, if I find thirty there." 31He said, "Behold, I have undertaken to speak to the Lord. Suppose twenty are found there." He answered, "For the sake of twenty I will not destroy it." 32Then he said, "Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak again but this once. Suppose ten are found there." He answered, "For the sake of ten I will not destroy it."

AND THEN THERE IS THE PARSHA BEFORE:

Abraham Does Not Intercede for His Own Children-

genesis 15:12
Now the sun was ready to set, and a deep sleep fell upon Abram, and behold, a fright, a great darkness was falling upon him.

What was the “deep dark dread” that befell Abraham? The Midrash explains that Abraham was shown the future great empires that would control the world and bring terror to it, each in their own way: the Babylonian, Persian, Greek, Roman and Ishmaelite empires [Mechilta Yitro 9. Bereishis Rabba 44:17. Pirkei D’rebbi Eliezer ch. 28.]
.

.

SO FOR A BUNCH OF SICK TWISTED RAPISTS, AVRAHAM RAISES HELL, AN ARGUMENT WORTHY OF PERRY MASON OR EVEN THE LIKES OF TULLY .

but us, his own spawn earn just a few tears shed; and not even the slightest protest raised from our forefather Avraham? WHAT GIVES?

    Sounds like a Christian.

(Jesus said: "You must hate your friends and family, and love random beggars whom you'll never meet again. That's why it's so popular to be a monk in certian Xian circles.)

    Another good question about Avraham...

Maybe he knew that the oppressions of his descendents would be temporary, while the desctruction of Sedom is final?

He wasn't arguing; he was learnng, as discussed on my very excellent blog.

And no one loves Jews more than the liberals. We aren't the ones who go around bad mouthing the less religious. You want to see anti-Semitism in action, visit Heshy, for example.
