Shragie has been posting on Amshinov , theories on divine retribution as of late.Katrina for Gush Katif in particular. Now I’m not saying G-d doesn’t settle all accounts, but if He does explain the good fortunes of some of our less than hospitable diaspora hosts.

I think people are just getting in touch with their "spiritual" side this time of year, " 'tis the season". They are trying to say that G-d is sending us a message and that we should reflect on ourselves. Not necessarily a retribution for the disengagement. (although the parrallels are eerie).
