An Alternative to the “Beis Yosef’s Kasha”

At this time of year, Bnei Torah customarily try to come up with new solutions to the famous question of the “Beis Yosef,” Rav Yosef Karo of Tzefas: If there was enough oil for one day, which miraculously burned for eight, why do we celebrate all eight days? Was the first day also a miracle?

EIZER L’SHABBOS would like to propose a new question and answer: “Why don’t the poor families of Tzefas burn candles for 365 days a year to commemorate the miracle of their survival?” The answer is: “They can’t afford the candles!”

As Chanukah approaches, we ask you to think of your fellow Jews living in Tzfas. While frying the latkes think of the people in Tzfas, who will be similarly celebrating when you give to EIZER L’SHABBOS – a premier tzedakah organization with haskamos of Gedolei Yisrael, including the BADATZ of the Eidah HaCharedis-Yerushalayim.

Please help EIZER L’SHABBOS during our annual Chanukah Campaign.

Help us distribute food packages to over 400 families. If you would like to sponsor certain items, e.g. staple foods, “nosh” for the children, dairy products, etc., please email us, and we’ll give you the exact information.

This year’s Chanukah distribution will cost us over $30,000. Just as you helped us in the past, we are counting on you to help us again. In the zechus of enabling hundreds of families to have a joyous Chanukah, may you and your family experience joy and nachas for many years to come!

We thank our regular sponsors for their unstinting support, and our new sponsors for joining us in this great mitzvah.

May Hashem bring the Geulah Sheleimah Bimheirah!
