Hi, From Our Unknowing Contributor

The Desert Eagle is a semi- automatic [gas] pistol made in Israel for Magnum Research. It is unusual in that the gas-operated mechanism used by the Desert Eagle is more commonly found in rifles. In fact, the rotating bolt and locking mechanism bear a strong resemblance to that of the M-16 . The advantage of gas is that it allows the use of far more powerful cartdriges than traditional semi-automatic pistols , and it allows the Desert Eagle to compete in an area that had been dominated by revolvers.
.44 Magnum Desert Eagle Pistol at $1,049.00 is excellent for hunting deer and other large game. Scoped, it is accurate to 100 yards and beyond. This Mark VII model is NO longer manufactured however, most parts, accessories and technical support are available and will continue to be available for all the Mark VII pistols. Please note the Mark VII model is not convertible as the Mark XIX model is.

Amshi: I prefer my glock 19c and M16-A4 anyday over a desert eagle.

Sorry Amshi, but no pistol is accurate at 100 yards, scope or no scope.

The scope allows you to aim accurately at a distance; it takes barrel rifling to make the bullet spin to follow the scope sighting. A pistol barrel is just too short to provide sufficient spin. That's why rifles were invented.

You've been traduced by ad copy-- and films where some tough guy aims a pistol at a person a block away and bang-bang-bang drills three holes in them. Can't be done. Not with a pistol

Amshi - Uri's full of baloney.

Our instructor can accurately hit at 100 yards. I'm pretty good at 75 -- working my way up.
